EFCC files new 6 counts against PDP governor-elect, Bala Mohammed

The Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly filed fresh charges
against Senator Bala Mohammed, a former Minister who won the Bauchi State
Governorship Poll under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in
the last general election.

Report has
it that the 6 count charges against him are on his alleged failure to declare
his assets and false declaration.

The former
Federal Capital Territory Minister will be arraigned at the Federal High Court
in Maitama Abuja.

“That
you Bala A. Mohammed on or about October 24, 2016 at the head office of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja within the judicial division
of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory made a false statement to
the detective, Ishaya Dauda, investigating officer with the Economic Governance
Section of the EFCC, Abuja to wit: that you acquired house situate at No. 2599
and 2600, Cadastal Zone AO4 Asokoro District Abuja through a mortgage facility
from Aso Savings  & Loan Bank Plc and you thereby committed an offence
contrary to Section 09 (2) (a) of the EFCC (Establishment) Act 2004 and
punishable under Section 39(2)(b) of the same Act,”
the charges against Senate Mohammed
reads in part (as seen on Punch).

Mr. Mohammed defeated the incumbent governor of the state, Mohammed Abubakar, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.

He had
following his victory at the poll vowed to probe his predecessor’s government
which he accused of receiving over N400billion in 4 years with nothing of even
N5billion to show.
